Students MUST continue to attend course classes until a decision has been made. Decisions and/or grades evaluated by academic staff are final and cannot be challenged. If student status changes from full-time to part-time due to transfer credits, they are encouraged to meet with their program coordinator to choose additional courses (if possible) to add to their schedule. A change in status can affect OSAP funding. In general, articulation agreements document a path between two or more colleges or universities and their programs of study. Articulation agreements are also referred to as transfer agreements, transfer guidelines, and transfer channels by various institutions. The articulation agreements are intended to facilitate the transition from the SRC to the 4-year partner school program. The student benefits from following very specific course schedules to avoid inapplicable courses and reduce the loss of course points. Completed programs: A block transfer occurs when a group of courses, often in the form of a certificate or diploma, is recognized for transfer loans. Knowing transfer opportunities will help you make informed decisions in your college studies so that you can continue your education to a degree in the field of your choice.

For example, you can start your post-secondary education in a college program such as arts and sciences. To earn a Bachelor of Arts and Science, you must be transferred to a university or college. To earn a degree in a specialized field such as business, human services, computer science, or engineering technology, you must be transferred to an institution that offers a bachelor`s degree in your area of expertise. To have credits from another institution recognized for your new program, complete the advanced standing – Transfer Credit (external) credit application form and submit it to pathways@northern.on.ca with the additional required documents listed below. Transfer agreements simplify the complexity of determining the courses to be taken and virtually eliminate the guesswork in terms of transferability. Adhering to the NOC`s knartikulation agreements should save students time and money – an important advantage in managing the rising costs of college alternatives. Processing of the advanced status application will not continue until payment, lesson plans and the official transcript have been received.

Our passport officer works with the coordinator of your assessment program. Normally, transfer loans are only granted for courses taken within the last five (5) years. Decisions are communicated to the student by the pathways officer. The approved transfer credit will be noted as “TC” on your transcript and will not be included in your GPA. The transfer of credits from Ontario colleges and other public colleges and universities is considered from one course to another. Transfer credits are granted if, in the opinion of the College, the work covered is equivalent in terms of objectives and standards of assessment to the corresponding curriculum of Northern College. Pay the required transfer fee. Payment can be submitted to the Studentenwerk on campus or online via your Northern College student account. The fee is $25 per transfer request with a maximum of $200 per academic year. NoC creates articulation agreements with 4-year partner institutions after reviewing the curriculum and agreeing on how the courses taken meet the course requirements at the 4-year partner institution. These transfer agreements limit the range of course options by providing a checklist or order of courses that should be taken to meet noC degree requirements that are compatible with the future school. Many students feel that starting their post-secondary education at a college is a good step.

Colleges are close to home, class sizes are smaller, and tuition can be more affordable. Important Notes: Minimum grade requirements and curriculum currency will be considered when making decisions. Normally, transfer loans are only granted for courses taken within the last five (5) years. The grade obtained in the original course will be calculated in your GPA. Decisions are communicated to the student by the pathways officer. Students who have completed courses at Northern College may not be required to repeat courses that have been successfully completed at Northern College when they move to a new program internally. Note: The higher education curriculum changes frequently. Agreements based on curriculum changes should be considered “snapshots” of the curriculum at some point. In addition, these agreements are subject to the consent and interpretation of a number of persons in each institution. No transfer articulation contract can be considered as a guarantee that the courses or programs to which it relates will exist or be equivalent in the future. MSU-Northern tries to obtain timely and accurate information about these and related documents, but discrepancies may arise.

In such cases, please contact the MSU-Northern Registrar to compensate for any errors, discrepancies or disagreements. We intend to maximize access to and progress in northern programs. Our policy is that students should be credited for the knowledge and skills they have acquired before enrolling in university. Scan and email the completed form with the required documentation to pathways@northern.on.ca. If you do not have a scanner available, clear images and photos of the completed application, including receipts, can be submitted. Attention Northern College and Laurentian University (BScN) Bachelor of Collaborative Nursing students: The Bachelor of Collaborative Science program does not have the option to use the RCRA for transfer credits and there are no challenge exams available. All BSCN year 1 students who may be eligible for transfer credits will be automatically assessed based on transcripts submitted at the time of application. Eligible students will be notified by the Program Coordinator when transfer credits are awarded at the end of August. Students are not allowed to contact Laurentian University about their transfer credit assessment Example: If you have a three-year college diploma, you will receive a block loan if you upgrade to a degree program in business administration at an institution with which Northern College has an agreement. Depending on the agreement, you should be able to move directly to the second or third year of study. Please note that most colleges have a residency requirement that requires you to complete at least one full semester of study (or 25% of the program) at your “home” institution to complete their degree. Please use only one form for each transfer credit you request and pay the required transfer fee. Currently, the fee is $25.00 per transfer request with a maximum of $200.00.
